Technical Town Hall Mannheim

Mannheim, 2016 - 2020
Office/administration buildings
Competition 1st prize

Competing against 18 architectural practices schneider+schumacher has been awarded first prize in a competition organized by the Mannheim Housing Association to build a new Technical Town Hall in Mannheim’s Glückstein district. The new building is designed to house some 700 employees and to provide an attractive and user-friendly service environment. The ground-breaking ceremony took place in summer 2018.

The design has an eye-catching 13-storey high office tower divided in two, with a transparent glass façade that underscores the public location. The main entrance is on Glücksteinallee, with access to the foyer serving the entire town hall, as well as a citizen’s service point on the first floor. The entrance also provides access to the meeting area and the centre for climate protection.
