NETWORK railing

2005
Design/Object

The network railing system consists of cast posts which are inclined towards the pedestrian side. They can be spaced at a maximum of three metres. In front of the posts a stainless steel net is stretched. The posts are fixed into the ground with a threaded rod.

Protection and transparency are the desired functions of the railings. They are achieved by the choice of materials and the design of the system. The inclination and the extra wide handrail make it difficult for children to climb over. The cast posts convey stability and dynamism at the same time. Forming the supporting structure of the system they clearly stand out from the net.

The elliptic aluminium profile of the handrail (able to follow slopes as well) forms an elegant top edge and invites for leaning on the railings.
