Site visit at the Bolongaropalast

06.12.2017 - Notes

Work has been progressing well at the Bolongaropalast. Having protected all the delicate parts of the building – for instance the historic floors, staircases, balustrades and lamps – electrical and plumbing installations were all removed. Several walls and ceilings have already been dismantled. According to Mayor Peter Feldmann, the plan is to erect a crane in front of the building in January so that, provided the weather plays along, work on the roof can begin.

Michael Schumacher explains: “We have been planning the work for a long time and now things are really starting to happen.” For example six original windows in the inner courtyard have been modified to provide new access doors. The renovation and modernisation work will provide the Bolongaropalast with a new hall for events, a music room, a restaurant, and also a museum.

On the garden side, a site hoarding with an art project by the photographic artist Jürgen Wiesner was also unveiled. It is entitled “At the foot of Bolongaropalast” and it displays historical photos of Höchst’s River Main embankment and of the Palace.
