Accolade for city library

09.05.2017 - Notes

Bad Vilbel’s city library has been awarded the Hessen Library Prize by the cultural foundation of the Hessen-Thüringen Sparkasse. Thomas Wurzel, who heads the foundation, praised the building for its “undoubtedly spectacular façade as well as its remarkable content.”

schneider+schumacher’s building and project management team took over the tendering process and the on-site supervision of the library bridge project, which straddles the river Nidda. Munich architects Demmel und Hadler were responsible for the original design and working drawings. Following its relocation and the reopening in November 2013, the library has managed to double the number of loans. Some 20 per cent of residents regularly borrow media content.
