16 Locations

At the start of May – just less than two years ahead of the opening of the 2019 Remstal Garden Show – 16 architectural offices from all over Germany presented their designs for the show’s “16 locations”. Each one of the municipalities along the Rems valley is playing host to a single installation ­– schneider+schumacher was allocated the town of Schorndorf. Here they will be creating a space structure – “Prisma” – a space to discover, relax in, and from which one can gaze into the distance.

The structure, in the form of a tetrahedron, is oriented towards two opposing aspects of the surrounding landscape: the vertical slit opens up towards the valley and the church in Schorndorf, while the horizontal opening offers views of the slope, the woods, and the path. Interior lighting is achieved through these two openings plus selectively placed glass cylinders let into the external wall and directed towards the other 15 locations at the 2019 Remstal Garden Show.
