Open House at FAIR and GSI

26.04.2017 - Notes

On Sunday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. GSI and the future FAIR facility (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research) open their doors to the public in Darmstadt. At a total of 30 stations visitors can get to know everything about research at GSI and FAIR.

For the first time the general public will be able to get a close-up view of the construction site of the particle accelerator facility FAIR: On 20 hectares, a science project with accelerator and storage rings, high-tech infrastructures and experimental possibilities for around 3,000 scientists from all over the world is being developed.

With a guided bus tour visitors can circle the construction site, where the preparatory work has already commenced. The joint venture ion42 consisting of the architectural practices DGI Bauwerk and schneider+schumacher takes on planning and constructing the research facility.
