Long-lasting and beautiful

30.11.2016 - Notes

In mid-November Frankfurts head mayor Peter Feldmann, mayor Uwe Becker and city council Stefan Majer announced that the renovation and conversion of the Bolongaro Palace can begin in spring 2017. Built in 1770, the largest private building of the Baroque era in the region and today’s town hall of Frankfurts district Höchst is listed as historic monument.

The task contains two main issues: Renovating and maintaining the built fabric in line with the requirements of the listed building department and generating a new functional concept for the building – for example the installation of a museum, an administrative area and gastronomy. The architectural offices schneider+schumacher and Rimpl + Flacht are responsible for the project.

Besides the renovation of the buildings envelope and the strengthening of the the built fabric, a technical basic maintenance and fire protection measures are going to be realised. By integrating elevators, new stairways and ramps the Bolongaro Palace will become barrier-free. The courtyard located to the west of the palace will be roofed over and will offer a flexible 145m² area for events. In addition a new music hall for 70 guests will be developed as a modern counterpart to the chapel hall.
