Topping-out ceremony of the new old town between Dom and Römer

31.10.2016 - Notes

On the 15th of October the historical Krönungsweg between Dom and Römer was accessible to the public for the first time and many interested visitors came to take a first look. It was the day of the topping-out ceremony of the new old town that is located on the site of the former technical town hall. The project contains 15 reconstructions and 20 new buildings which are based on historical floor plans.

The event was ceremoniously opened by Mayor Peter Feldmann, his predecessor Petra Roth and head of the planning department Mike Josef who partially showed visitors around the construction site themselves. In 2012 schneider+schumacher was engaged to coordinate the overall planning. The first construction project to be opened on the site was the underground car park with 460 parking spaces refurbished by schneider+schumacher and finished in 2013. It is planned to put the whole area into operation in 2018.
