Linked mobility in Frankfurt

24.05.2016 - Notes

By now a variety of urban mobility is linked at the Frankfurt main train station – from bicycle to car,  up to bus and train. Already at the beginning of May the new parking garage opened with 350 parking lots. Yesterday the integrated bicycle station was opened. Frankfurt’s first public bicycle station offers space for 420 bikes and includes a service workshop. The translucent facade of wire mesh fence is permeable to air and creates a comfortable and light interior. The parking garage was established by CA Immo and is run by the “Parkhaus-Betriebsgesellschaft” (PBG), a daughter company of the ABG Frankfurt Holding.

At yesterday’s opening Frankfurt’s mayor Olaf Cunitz handed over a partial building permission for the Steigenberger Group Hotel to CA Immo site manager Jakob Vowinckel. The Hotel designed by schneider+schumacher will be build on the neighbouring property of the parking garage.

In connection with the construction of this hotel, CA Immo is also establishing the long-distance bus station, which is supposed to be realized with three stops until the end of July this year. Further stops are following in spring 2017. The final expansion of the roofed long-distance bus station covering 14 stops follows the completion of the hotel at the end of 2018. The architectural concept for the bus station’s roof comes also from schneider+schumacher.
