What is the current status of the planned new building for the Federal Criminal Police Office? This was the focus of a public information evening held in Wiesbaden in mid-May. At the event, the City Planning Office and the Wiesbaden Urban Development Corporation provided interested members of the public with an update on the current progress of the development plan. The urban design concept for the BKA campus was presented by a team from schneider+schumacher in collaboration with GTL Landscape Architecture.
The plan is for a central campus for over 5,000 employees, bringing together the Federal Criminal Police Office’s seven sites, which are currently scattered across the city. The concept envisages a development that is visible from the outside and inviting, whilst simultaneously meeting all required protection and security measures. The arrangement of the pentagonal buildings follows the ‘onion’ principle, enabling the creation of a sequence of security zones oriented towards the centre. The spaces in between, as well as a central plaza – the heart of the campus – serve as meeting places.
