New Frankfurt – 100 Years

To mark the end of the first jubilee year celebrating ‘100 Years of New Frankfurt’, another event about the Ernst May Housing district will take place at 19:00 on 8 December at the Haus am Dom. A radically modern concept saw the creation of over 12,000 apartments in just five years, embedded in well-planned neighbourhoods with schools, green spaces and social infrastructure.
The participants, Astrid Wuttke, architect and partner at schneider+schumacher – who also chairs the ernst-may-gesellschaft – and the architect DW Dreysse, will discuss lessons we can still learn from the Neues Frankfurt building programme. The presenter is Claus-Jürgen Göpfert
Admission is free. Registration at hausamdom@bistumlimburg.de
On the same topic, we recommend listening to the hrINFO podcast: ‘Forgotten Heritage – 100 Years of New Frankfurt’, in which editor Christoph Scheffer talks to Astrid Wuttke about New Frankfurt.
