Twin towers in Chengdu

17.06.2025 - Notes

Some three years after winning the competition for an office building in the Chinese business metropolis of Chengdu, the outer shells of schneider+schumacher’s two twin towers of different heights are almost complete. The interior fit-out will soon be taking place.

The two towers, positioned on top of a three-storey podium base, are divided into several box-shaped structures. Located in Chengdu’s financial and business district, on a central axis, the building faces towards the Jinjiang River. The façade has been designed to be open towards the river with observation areas, or ‘monitors’, offering spaces where people working in the building can get together and enjoy an exceptional view.

The project is being built on a narrow plot of land and it has been carefully incorporated into Chengdu’s urban planning arrangement: The taller tower is positioned to offer optimal views in all directions and at a maximum distance from existing and future high-rise buildings. An opening at its base creates a public route that links the park in front with the business district.
