With Lakeside Living III, the third and last construction phase of the residential project in Kohldorfer Strasse in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee is about to start. The building permit has already been issued, so construction work can soon begin. Planned by schneider+schumacher’s Vienna office, and commissioned by Riedergarten Immobilien, a further 168 freehold two- to four-room apartments are being built in a sought-after location between the city and Lake Wörth, with floor areas ranging between 37m2 and 119m2.
In an architectural competition some four years ago, schneider+schumacher’s Vienna office produced this winning design. Seen from the street, two eight-storey free-standing blocks mark the entrance to the construction site. The slightly offset arrangement creates a sequence of open spaces that underlines the high quality of this residential quarter. Behind, is a linear seven-storey terraced building, and this volume serves to acoustically shield the entire residential district from the railway line to the south. The three structures are predominantly oriented south-west, so the upper floors take advantage of spectacular views of the Karawankas mountain range and towards Lake Wörth.
