Last week the Deutsches Architekturmuseum (DAM) presented the ten finalists of the "Wohnen für alle" (accommodation for all) architecture prize. Among them is schneider+schumacher, working together as a team with the Viennese office, plus projektbau GmbH.
The affordable residential scheme at Podhagskygasse in Vienna-Donaustadt had already won first prize in 2011 in a property developer competition. The jury at that time praised the 'four design elements', namely, architecture and space, economy, ecology and social sustainability.
In the second round of the competition, the ten finalists are given the opportunity to design affordable housing for a site owned by ABG FRANKFURT HOLDING, to be built at a later date.
DAM currently presents all 130 projects in an exhibition, which runs until 9 September.
