Large houses, small houses

30.01.2024 - Notes

Every five years the Hessen Chamber of Architects awards its regional prizes. All 37 prize-winning buildings spanning the period 2018 – 2023 are now being presented together, and these include single-family houses, as well as schools, museums, and temporary buildings. In an exhibition entitled ‘Große Häuser, kleine Häuser’ (‘Large houses, small houses’) the Kunsthalle Darmstadt is exhibiting buildings that have received four regional awards in the form of photos and drawings. The exhibition runs from 10 February until 3 March 2024 (Open: Wed – Sun from 11:00 – 17:00) and opens on Friday 9 February at 18:00.

One of the 37 selected projects is the Frankfurt Pavilion designed by schneider+schumacher. This project was awarded the BDA Martin-Elsaesser Plaque in 2023. The Frankfurt Pavilion was designed in 2018 as a sustainable temporary building that can be easily stored and re-assembled – and as such it has already offered extra event space at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2019, 2022 and 2023.
